This is the image for the news article titled Cario Students Selected to Art Fields Jr.Some of our talented Cario artists entered Art Fields Jr. this year. Out of 800+ South Carolina-wide K-12 entries, we are proud to announce that 9 of our Comet scholars were selected! Congratulations to the following students (in alphabetical order): Rachel Agudelo (6th), Valerie Cunnane (6th), Scarlett Grave (7th), Leila Ibach (7th), Addison Kurtz (6th), Ava Murphy (7th), Helen Nang (7th), Ali Pace (8th), and Ryan Van Peursem (8th). These students are part of the, only, 1/3 of K-12 graders that were invited to show at Art Fields. This is a two week, newly national, showcase of adult and youth artists from April 26-May 4. This Lake City, SC, event is widely recognized as a go-to hub to experience visual and performing arts of all types. Our exhibiting 6-8th Graders have the opportunity to earn one of three monetary awards: 1st-$500, 2nd-$300, and 3rd- $200; two Merit Awards; and one student choice award (voted on by K-12 students in the student tours). Both artists selected to exhibit and artists who place as an award recipient are featured on the Art Fields Jr website for a year. Many congrats to both the talented selected students and the talented students who participated in the show's juried-entry portion! "I do not envy the role of these judges! We have such incredible students here at Cario! It's a great day to be a Comet (everyday!)!" says Ms. Brown, Cario's art teacher.
